বিক্রম ব্যানার্জী, কলকাতা: আমেরিকার প্রেসিডেন্ট ডোনাল্ড ট্রাম্প বিগত দিনগুলিতে ভারত প্রসঙ্গে যেসব মন্তব্য করছিলেন তাতে বোঝাই গিয়েছিল নয়া দিল্লি-ওয়াশিংটন ডিসি সম্পর্কের বরফ গলতে পারে (USA Tariff)। শেষ পর্যন্ত সেটাই হচ্ছে। সোমবার আমেরিকান প্রেসিডেন্ট দাবি করে বসলেন, ভারত এবং আমেরিকা দুই দেশই দ্বিপাক্ষিক বাণিজ্য চুক্তিতে সম্মত হয়েছে। এর ফলে দুই দেশের উপর শুল্কের বোঝা অনেকটাই কমবে। জানা যাচ্ছে, প্রধানমন্ত্রী নরেন্দ্র মোদির সাথে ফোনালাপ সেরেই ট্রাম্প ঘোষণা করেছেন, ভারতের উপর থেকে 50 শতাংশের শুল্ক 18 শতাংশে নামিয়ে আনছে আমেরিকা।

শুল্ক কমাতে শর্তও বেধে দিয়েছেন ট্রাম্প!

সোমবার, মার্কিন প্রেসিডেন্ট ডোনাল্ড ট্রাম্প জানালেন, আমেরিকা এবং ভারতের সম্পর্ক দিন দিন ভাল পর্যায়ে পৌঁছাচ্ছে। খুব শীঘ্রই দুই দেশের মধ্যে বাণিজ্য চুক্তি স্বাক্ষরিত হবে। মূলত সে কারণেই ভারতের উপর থেকে 50 শতাংশের শুল্ক 18 শতাংশে নামিয়ে আনবে আমেরিকা। তাৎক্ষণিকভাবেই কার্যকর হবে এই সিদ্ধান্ত। তবে শুল্ক কমানোর জন্য বিশেষ শর্ত রেখেছেন ট্রাম্প।

এদিন ডোনাল্ড ট্রাম্পের দাবি ছিল, আমেরিকা যেমন ভারতের উপর থেকে শুল্ক কমাবে তেমনই ভারতও আমেরিকার পণ্যের উপর নিজেদের শুল্ক ও শুল্ক বহির্ভূত বাধা শূন্যে নামিয়ে আনবে। ডোনাল্ড ট্রাম্পের এমন সিদ্ধান্তের পর ভারতে নিযুক্ত মার্কিন রাষ্ট্রদূত সের্জিও গোর নয়া দিল্লির উপর থেকে ওয়াশিংটন ডিসির শুল্ক কমিয়ে আনার খবর নিশ্চিত করেছেন। জানা যাচ্ছে, সব ঠিক থাকলে খুব শীঘ্রই আনুষ্ঠানিকভাবে ভারতের উপর থেকে শুল্কের বোঝা নামিয়ে নেবে আমেরিকা।

প্রসঙ্গত, নিজের ট্রুথ সোশ্যালে আবারও পোস্ট করে প্রধানমন্ত্রী নরেন্দ্র মোদিকে ঘনিষ্ঠ বন্ধু আখ্যা দিয়েছেন মার্কিন প্রেসিডেন্ট। তাঁর বক্তব্য, ” তিনি (নরেন্দ্র মোদি) আমার সবচেয়ে ঘনিষ্ঠ বন্ধুদের একজন” এদিকে আমেরিকা ভারতের উপর থেকে শুল্ক প্রত্যাহার করতে চলেছে সেই খবর নিজের এক্স হ্যান্ডেলে ভাগ করে নিয়ে প্রতিক্রিয়া জানিয়েছেন খোদ প্রধানমন্ত্রীও। ট্রাম্পের পর মোদি লিখেছেন, “আমি অত্যন্ত খুশি।”
