মুর্শিদাবাদ অঞ্চলে অত্যাবশ্যকীয় খাদ্যশস্যের চলাচল ও সংরক্ষণকে সুশৃঙ্খল করার লক্ষ্যে, পূর্ব রেলের শিয়ালদহ বিভাগ মঙ্গলবার কৃষ্ণনগর-লালগোলা সেকশনের সারগাছি স্টেশনে তাদের প্রথম গতি শক্তি মাল্টিমোডাল কার্গো টার্মিনাল চালু করেছে। এই অত্যাধুনিক কেন্দ্রটি প্রাথমিকভাবে ফুড কর্পোরেশন অফ ইন্ডিয়া (FCI)-এর জন্য গমের রেক প্রক্রিয়াজাত করবে এবং এটি পরিবেশগত কারণ ও পোকামাকড়ের আক্রমণ থেকে সুরক্ষাসহ বিপুল পরিমাণে সংরক্ষণের জন্য সুসজ্জিত থাকবে।

টার্মিনালটি মাসে দুই থেকে তিনটি রেক পরিচালনা করতে পারে। প্রতিটি রেকে প্রায় ২,৫০০ টন খাদ্যশস্য থাকে। এই গতিশক্তি টার্মিনাল প্রসঙ্গে বড় তথ্য দিয়েছেন এক রেল কর্তা। তিনি জানান, “উন্নত সংরক্ষণ পরিকাঠামোর সঙ্গে রেল পরিবহনকে সমন্বিত করার মাধ্যমে শিয়ালদহ বিভাগ সরবরাহ শৃঙ্খলের কার্যকারিতা ব্যাপকভাবে উন্নত করতে, পরিবহন ব্যয় কমাতে এবং এই অঞ্চলের খাদ্য নিরাপত্তা জোরদার করতে পারবে বলে আশা করছে।”

রেল সূত্রে খবর, প্রথম দিন থেকেই নির্বিঘ্ন কার্যক্রম নিশ্চিত করতে ডিভিশন কর্তৃপক্ষ স্টেশন এবং GCT-এর মধ্যে চলাচলের জন্য নির্ধারিত শান্টিং চার্জ চালু করেছে। আর এটি লজিস্টিক চেইনের ক্ষেত্রে যথেষ্ট গুরুত্বপূর্ণ বলে মনে করা হচ্ছে। এই নতুন টার্মিনালটি কেন্দ্রীয় সরকারের গতি শক্তি উদ্যোগের অধীনে একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ অগ্রগতি।
