ভারতীয় সেনার অগ্নিবীর হতে চেয়ে পথে নামলেন নেপালের তরুণরা, চাপে বালেন শাহ

বিক্রম ব্যানার্জী, কলকাতা: ভারতই শ্রেষ্ঠ। তাই ভারতীয় সেনার (Indian Army) অগ্নিবীর প্রকল্পে অন্তর্ভুক্ত হতে চেয়ে এবার নেপালের (Nepal) রাজপথে নামলেন সে দেশের তরুণরা। নেপালকে ভারতের অগ্নিবীর প্রকল্পে অন্তর্ভুক্ত করার দাবিতে বাকি নেপালিদের সমর্থনে পথে নেমেছেন গোর্খা সৈন্য এবং তাঁদের পরিবারের সদস্যরাও! আর তাতেই একপ্রকার চাপে পড়ে গিয়েছেন প্রতিবেশী রাষ্ট্রটির নতুন প্রধানমন্ত্রী বালেন শাহ! জানিয়ে রাখা প্রয়োজন, অনেক আগে থেকেই ভারতীয় সেনায় রয়েছে গোর্খা রেজিমেন্ট। যদিও 2020 সালের পর থেকে এই রেজিমেন্টে নিয়োগ স্থগিত হয়ে রয়েছে।

ভারতীয় সেনায় জুড়বেন নেপালিরাও!

1947 সালে স্বাধীনতার পর ভারত সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়েছিল গোর্খাদের সেনায় নিয়োগ করবে। এক কথায়, গোর্খা রেজিমেন্টকে বিলুপ্ত হতে দেবে না। একই সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়েছিল ব্রিটেনও। আর সেই সিদ্ধান্ত থেকেই ত্রিপক্ষীয় চুক্তির অধীনে ভারতীয় সেনায় কাজ করেন গোর্খা সৈন্যরা। ব্রিটেনের সেনাবাহিনীতেও সমান মর্যাদা পান তাঁরা। সেই সূত্রেই বর্তমানে ভারতীয় সেনাবাহিনীতে 7টি গোর্খা রেজিমেন্টের 39 ব্যাটেলিয়ানে রয়েছেন কমপক্ষে 32 হাজার সেনা। যাঁরা প্রত্যেকেই নেপালি।

এদিকে, প্রতিবেশী দেশ নেপালে কর্মসংস্থানের সুযোগ অত্যন্ত কম। মূলত সে কারণেই কাজের জায়গা খুঁজতে এবার নেপালের পোখারায় ভারতের অগ্নিবীর প্রকল্পের আওতায় ভারতীয় সেনাবাহিনীতে যোগ দেওয়ার দাবি নিয়ে পথে নেমেছেন নেপালের তরুণরা। এদিকে নেপালিদের এমন দাবিতে চাপে পড়ে গিয়েছে বালেন সরকার। জানা যাচ্ছে, দেশের তরুণ প্রজন্মের এই দাবি মানতে নারাজ তারা। নেপালের সরকারের দাবি, অগ্নিবীর প্রকল্প নাকি 1947 এর নেপাল, ভারত এবং ব্রিটেন ত্রীপক্ষীয় চুক্তির বিপরীত।

উল্লেখ্য, জেন জি আন্দোলনের হাত ধরে প্রতিবেশী দেশ নেপালের সিংহাসনে বসেছেন কাঠমান্ডুর প্রাক্তন মেয়র বালেন শাহ। আর তিনি ক্ষমতায় আসতেই একের পর এক বিতর্কিত সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়েছেন সে কথা বলাই যায়! তাতে ভারতের সাথে বেড়েছে তিক্ততা! যদিও নয়া দিল্লির তরফে পাল্টা প্রতিক্রিয়ার পর পিছু হটতেও দেখা গিয়েছে বালেনকে!
