ঘূর্ণিঝড়ের প্রভাবে আচমকা বরফে ঢাকল সিকিমের নাথু লা, ছাঙ্গু লেক সহ বহু এলাকা

সহেলি মিত্র, কলকাতা: ঘূর্ণিঝড় ‘অর্ণব’ (Cyclone Arnab)-এর প্রভাবে আমূল বদলে গেল সিকিমের আবহাওয়া। অর্ণবের প্রভাবে বৃহস্পতিবার ভোর থেকেই তাপমাত্রা কমে গেছে।  উত্তর সিকিমের বেশ কিছু এলাকা এবং পূর্ব সিকিমের জনপ্রিয় পর্যটন কেন্দ্র, যেমন ছাঙ্গু লেক, নাথু লা, কুপুপ ও ইয়ুমথাং উপত্যকা বরফের (Sikkim Snowfall) ঘন চাদরে ঢেকে গেছে।

এদিকে এই অপ্রত্যাশিত তুষারপাত পর্যটকদের আনন্দিত করেছে বটে। তবে তাপমাত্রা তীব্রভাবে কমে যাওয়ায় দৃশ্যমানতা হ্রাস পেয়েছে এবং এর ফলে যান চলাচলে সামান্য বিধিনিষেধ আরোপ করা হয়েছে। এই বিষয়ে গ্যাংটক আবহাওয়া কেন্দ্রের পরিচালক গোপীনাথ রাহা জানিয়েছেন যে, বঙ্গোপসাগরে সৃষ্ট ঘূর্ণিঝড় এবং এর সাথে সম্পর্কিত বায়ুমণ্ডলীয় নিম্নচাপের ফলেই পার্বত্য অঞ্চলে তাপমাত্রার এই আকস্মিক পতন ঘটেছে। জায়গায় জায়গায় বরফ পড়তে শুরু করেছে।

পর্যটকদের সাবধানে থাকার বার্তা

তিনি বলেন, এর ফলে সিকিমের উচ্চভূমিতে ঋতুভিত্তিক তুষারপাত হয়েছে এবং সমতল ও সংলগ্ন পাহাড়ি এলাকায় বৃষ্টিপাত হচ্ছে। তিনি আরও বলেন, যেহেতু আগামী দুই দিন তাপমাত্রা কম থাকার সম্ভাবনা রয়েছে, তাই ভ্রমণকারী এবং যারা পাহাড়ি অঞ্চলে যাতায়াত করেন, তাদের অতিরিক্ত সতর্কতা অবলম্বন করার পরামর্শ দেওয়া হচ্ছে। আলিপুর আবহাওয়া দফতরের অনুসারে , আগামী দুই দিনে উত্তরবঙ্গের সমতল ও পাহাড়ি অঞ্চলের সর্বোচ্চ তাপমাত্রা স্বাভাবিকের চেয়ে ২ থেকে ৪ ডিগ্রি সেলসিয়াস কমতে পারে।

শিলিগুড়িতে সর্বোচ্চ ও সর্বনিম্ন তাপমাত্রা যথাক্রমে ৩০.৭ডিগ্রি সেলসিয়াস ও ২০ ডিগ্রি সেলসিয়াস রেকর্ড করা হয়েছে, অন্যদিকে দার্জিলিং-এর সর্বনিম্ন তাপমাত্রা ছিল ১০.৬ ডিগ্রি সেলসিয়াস। সাত দিনের আবহাওয়া সতর্কতা অনুযায়ী, ২৯ ও ৩০ অক্টোবর দার্জিলিং, জলপাইগুড়ি, কালিম্পং এবং আলিপুরদুয়ার সহ বিভিন্ন জেলায় ৭ থেকে ১১ সেন্টিমিটার পর্যন্ত ভারী বৃষ্টিপাত এবং তীব্র ঝোড়ো হওয়ার সম্ভাবনা রয়েছে। এছাড়াও বজ্রপাত এবং ঘণ্টায় ৩০ থেকে ৪০ কিলোমিটার বেগে দমকা হাওয়া বয়ে যাওয়ার সম্ভাবনা রয়েছে।
