সৌভিক মুখার্জী, কলকাতা: বৈশাখের শুরুতেই যেন রঙ্গমূর্তি ধারণ করেছে দেশের আবহাওয়া (Weather)। উত্তর থেকে দক্ষিণ, পূর্ব থেকে পশ্চিম, গোটা ভারত এখন কার্যত আগুনের চুল্লি। এপ্রিলের শুরু থেকেই দেশের বহু প্রান্তে পারদ ৪০ ডিগ্রি সেলসিয়াস ছাড়িয়েছে (Heat Wave)। আর পরিস্থিতি এরকম জায়গায় পৌঁছেছে, যে বিশ্বের ১০০টি উত্তপ্ত গরম শহরের তালিকায় ৯৫টি ভারতের।

লু-র সতর্কতা মৌসম ভবনের

ভারতীয় আবহাওয়া দফতরের সর্বশেষ বুলেটিন অনুযায়ী, উত্তর-পশ্চিম, মধ্য এবং পূর্ব ভারতের উপর দিয়ে আগামী বেশ কয়েকদিন তীব্র তাপপ্রবাহ বা লু বয়ে যেতে পারে। হিমাচল প্রদেশ, প্রদেশ, হরিয়ানা, দিল্লি, উত্তর প্রদেশ, রাজস্থান, মধ্যপ্রদেশ, বিহার, গুজরাট ইত্যাদি রাজ্যের অবস্থা খুবই শোচনীয়। শুষ্ক বাতাস ও মেঘমুক্ত আকাশের কারণে সরাসরি সূর্যের তাপ মাটিতে এসে পড়ছে, যা পরিস্থিতি আরও জটিল করে তুলছে।

এদিকে তীব্র গরম ও জলের কষ্টে প্রাণ ওষ্ঠাগত পশুপাখিদের। মধ্যপ্রদেশের ছিন্দওয়াড়া জেলার পরাসিয়া অঞ্চল থেকে এক মর্মান্তিক খবর সামনে এসেছে। তীব্র লু-র দাপটে ডিহাইড্রেশনের শিকার হয়ে একের পর এক পায়রা আকাশ থেকে ঝড়ে পড়ছে। এমনকি তারা রাস্তায় তড়পাতে তড়পাতে মারা যাচ্ছে। পশু চিকিৎসকদের মতে, শরীরে জলের অভাব এবং অত্যাধিক তাপ সহ্য করতে না হলেই তাদের এই অবস্থা।

২৭ এপ্রিল রাত ১২টা পর্যন্ত রিপোর্ট অনুযায়ী দেশের সবথেকে উত্তপ্ত শহরগুলির তালিকায় রয়েছে—

এদিকে আবার এই চরম পরিস্থিরি মধ্যে ঝাড়খণ্ডের ধানবাদেও এক ভয়াবহ দুর্ঘটনা ঘটে। কাসোনারডিহ এলাকায় হঠাৎই বিকট শব্দে ধস নামে এবং তলিয়ে যায় প্রায় ২০ থেকে ২৫টি বাড়ি। আর প্রাণের ভয়ে গ্রাম ছাড়েন বহু বাসিন্দারা। খনি অঞ্চল হওয়ায় অত্যাধিক গরমে এই ধস নেমেছে কিনা তা খতিয়ে দেখছে প্রশাসন। এখন দেখার এই তাপপ্রবাহ কতদিন বজায় থাকে।
