প্রীতি পোদ্দার, কলকাতা: কৃষি বিজ্ঞানে মিলল দারুণ সাফল্য, প্রতিকূল পরিবেশকে হার মানিয়ে মাত্র ৩০ দিনের মধ্যেই লাদাখের উচ্চ পার্বত্য কৃষি অঞ্চলে জাফরান চাষে (Ladakh Saffron Farming) নয়া নজির গড়ল। ফুটল জাফরানের প্রথম ফুল। শুধু তাই নয়, মাত্র ৪ দিনে প্রায় ২২ গ্রাম খাঁটি জাফরান (Saffron Flowers in Ladakh) সংগ্রহ করা হয়েছে। কৃষিক্ষেত্রে এই নয়া অভাবনীয় উদ্যোগের খবর প্রকাশ্যে আসতেই ব্যাপক আলোচনা শুরু হয়েছে দেশ জুড়ে।

লাদাখে জাফরান চাষ

প্রাপ্ত রিপোর্ট অনুযায়ী, লাদাখের লেহ-র উচ্চ পার্বত্য কৃষি অঞ্চলে দীর্ঘদিন ধরে বেশ কয়েকটি জমি পড়েছিল। এদিকে সেই জমি ব্যবহার না করায় তা অনুর্বর হতে পড়েছে। শেষে পতিত হয়ে থাকা জমি পুনরুদ্ধার করে জাফরানের পরীক্ষামূলক চাষের চিন্তাভাবনা করা হয়েছিল। আর যেমন ভাবনা তেমন কাজ, কৃষিবিজ্ঞানে নয় চমক আনতে সমস্ত প্রচেষ্টা করা হল জাফরান চাষের জন্য। সাধারণত জাফরান গাছে প্রথম ফুল ফুটতে দুই মাস সময় লাগে, কিন্তু সেখানে মাত্র ৩০ দিনের মধ্যেই সেখানে জাফরান ফুটতে শুরু করেছে। ইতিমধ্যেই ভাইরাল সেই ছবি।

সংগৃহীত হয়েছে ২২ গ্রাম খাঁটি জাফরান

জানা গিয়েছে, বর্তমানে প্রতিদিন গড়ে ২০ থেকে ২৫টি ফুল ফুটছে। তবে ব্যতিক্রমীভাবে একদিন সকালে ফুটেছে ৭২টি ফুল। সব মিলিয়ে মাত্র চার দিনের মধ্যেই সংগ্রহ করা হয়েছে প্রায় ২২ গ্রাম খাঁটি জাফরান। উল্লেখ্য, লেফটেন্যান্ট গভর্নর ভিকে সাক্সেনার উদ্যোগে শুরু হওয়া এই পাইলট প্রকল্পটি স্পিতুক ফারকার প্রায় ৪,০০০ বর্গমিটার জমিতে বাস্তবায়িত হয়েছে। গত ১ অক্টোবর ৮০০ কেজি ওজনের প্রায় ৯০,০০০ উৎকৃষ্ট মানের ইরানি জাফরান রোপণ করা হয়েছিল। আর তাতেই মিলেছে এই সাফল্য।

ভারতে বিশেষ করে কাশ্মীরে, পাম্পোরে জাফরান চাষের জন্য সবচেয়ে বেশি পরিচিত। দেশের মোট জাফরান উৎপাদনের প্রায় ৯০ শতাংশই আসে জম্মু ও কাশ্মীর থেকে। তাই সেক্ষেত্রে কৃষিবিজ্ঞানে এই সাফল্য শুধু পরীক্ষামূলক চাষের মধ্যেই সীমাবদ্ধ নয় বরং আগামী দিনে লাদাখের কৃষিক্ষেত্রে বড়সড় পরিবর্তনের সম্ভাবনা তৈরি করেছে। এছাড়াও মনে করা হচ্ছে যদি এই কৃষি উদ্যোগ সফলভাবে এগিয়ে যায় তাহলে উচ্চ পার্বত্য অঞ্চলে বাণিজ্যিক লাল সোনার নতুন দরজা খুলে যেতে পারে।
