মুস্তাফিজুর রহমান বিতর্ক নিয়ে শেষ পর্যন্ত বিশ্বকাপ থেকেই বাদ পড়েছে বাংলাদেশ। এ প্রসঙ্গে গত 22 জানুয়ারি একটি বিবৃতিতে বাংলাদেশের যুব এবং ক্রীড়া উপদেষ্টা আসিফ নজরুল জানিয়েছিলেন, টি-টোয়েন্টি বিশ্বকাপে না খেলার সিদ্ধান্ত সরকারের। এই সিদ্ধান্ত খেলোয়াড়দের জানিয়ে দেওয়া হয়েছে। এদিন সাংবাদিকদের মুখোমুখি হয়ে নজরুল খুব পরিষ্কারভাবে জানিয়েছিলেন, সরকারের এই সিদ্ধান্ত খেলোয়াড়দের জানানোর জন্যই বৈঠক ডাকা হয়।
