বিক্রম ব্যানার্জী, কলকাতা: ভারতীয় ক্রিকেটের উজ্জ্বল নক্ষত্র তিনি। সাম্প্রতিক সময়ে টিম ইন্ডিয়ায় সেভাবে গুরুত্ব না পেলেও নিজেকে প্রমাণ করার আপ্রাণ চেষ্টা করে গিয়েছেন সঞ্জু স্যামসন (Sanju Samson)। এই দক্ষিণী তারকাই এবার এক মহৎ উদ্যোগ নিলেন। ভারতীয় দলের তারকা ক্রিকেটার সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়েছেন, মেধাবী অথচ অর্থের অভাবে পড়াশোনা চালিয়ে যেতে পারেন না দেশের এমন 1000 জন ছেলে মেয়ের ইউনিয়ন পাবলিক সার্ভিস কমিশন, সিভিল সার্ভিস পরীক্ষার প্রস্তুতির জন্য স্কলারশিপ (UPSC Scholarship) দেবেন।

সঞ্জুর মানবিক সিদ্ধান্তে আপ্লুত ভক্তরা

নিজের ব্যক্তিগত জীবন খুব একটা লাইমলাইটে আনতে পছন্দ করেন না সঞ্জু। শোনা যায়, প্রায়শই নিজের অর্থের কিছু অংশ সমাজের কল্যাণে দান করেন তিনি। তবে এবার ভারতীয় ক্রিকেটার যে সিদ্ধান্ত নিলেন তা সত্যিই প্রশংসনীয়। সম্প্রতি লিড ইন্ডিয়া সামিট 2026 এ ভারতীয় ক্রিকেটার সঞ্জু জানান, তিনি দেশের 1000 ছেলে মেয়ের UPSC পড়াশোনার খরচ বহন করতে চান।

সঞ্জুর বক্তব্য অনুযায়ী, সঞ্জু স্যামসন ফাউন্ডেশন এবং সিভিল সার্ভিসের কোচিং প্রতিষ্ঠান লিড আইএএস অ্যাকাডেমির যৌথ প্রচেষ্টায় দেশের মেধাবী ছেলে-মেয়েদের দেওয়া হবে স্কলারশিপ। এই বিশেষ উদ্যোগের প্রধান লক্ষ্য হলো, দারিদ্রতার অভাবে যাতে দেশের কোনও মেধাবী ছেলে মেয়ে সিভিল সার্ভিস পরীক্ষার প্রস্তুতি নিতে গিয়ে পিছিয়ে না আসে। মূলত প্রত্যেক যোগ্য ছেলেমেয়েকে সর্বভারতীয় পরীক্ষার জন্য প্রস্তুত করতেই স্কলারশিপ প্রদান করবেন সঞ্জু।

জানা যাচ্ছে, সঞ্জু স্যামসন ফাউন্ডেশন এবং সিভিল সার্ভিসের ওই কোচিং প্রতিষ্ঠানের যৌথ উদ্যোগে যে 1000 পড়ুয়ার দায়িত্ব নেওয়া হচ্ছে তাঁদের সর্বাঙ্গীণ বিকাশ অর্থাৎ পড়াশোনার প্রস্তুতির খরচ, ইন্টারভিউয়ের প্রস্তুতি থেকে শুরু করে পার্সোনাল ডেভেলপমেন্ট, ক্রিটিক্যাল থিংকিং এর মতো আধুনিক প্রশিক্ষণের ব্যবস্থা করা হবে। এছাড়াও শিক্ষার্থীর প্রস্তুতির জন্য থাকবে অনলাইন গাইডেনস, অনলাইন ক্লাস থেকে শুরু করে অনলাইনে নোটসের ব্যবস্থা। দেশের দরিদ্র অথচ মেধাবী ছাত্র-ছাত্রীদের সর্বভারতীয় পরীক্ষার জন্য প্রস্তুত করার ক্ষেত্রে ভারতীয় ক্রিকেটারের এই উদ্যোগের প্রশংসায় পঞ্চমুখ হয়েছেন ক্রিকেট ভক্ত থেকে শুরু করে নেট নাগরিকরা।
