বিক্রম ব্যানার্জী, কলকাতা: মাত্র 10 মাস বয়সী এক শিশুর দেওয়া অঙ্গে নতুন জীবন পেলে 5 জন। ঘটনাটি দক্ষিণ ভারতের। গুনে গুনে 5 জন প্রায় মরণাপন্ন মানুষকে বাঁচাল খুদে শিশু (Organ Donor)। ঘটনাটি অবিশ্বাস্য মনে হলেও, আলিন শেরিন আব্রাহামের অঙ্গে আদতেই বেঁচেছে প্রাণ। এদিকে মাত্র 10 মাস বয়সী শিশু কন্যার অঙ্গ দান করার পরই আলিন হয়ে উঠেছে কেরালার সব থেকে কম বয়সী অঙ্গদাতা। এদিকে মেয়ের চলে যাওয়ার শোকের মাঝেও এই বিরাট সিদ্ধান্ত নেওয়ায় আলিনের বাবা মাকে প্রশংসায় ভরিয়ে দিচ্ছেন নেট নাগরিকরা।

আলিনের মা-বাবাকে কৃতজ্ঞতা জানিয়েছেন খোদ স্বাস্থ্যমন্ত্রী

গত 5 ফেব্রুয়ারি মা ও দাদুদের সাথে কোয়াট্টাম থেকে তিরুভাল্লার উদ্দেশ্যে যাচ্ছিল খুদে আলিন। কে জানত সেটাই ওই শিশু কন্যার জীবনের শেষ মুহূর্ত হবে। এদিন পরিবারের সাথে গাড়িতে করে ঘুরতে যাওয়ার সময় হঠাৎ উল্টো দিক থেকে আসা একটি গাড়ি সজরে ধাক্কা মারে আলিনদের গাড়িতে। তাতে গুরুতর আঘাত পায় ওই শিশু কন্যা। আঘাত লাগে আলিনের মা সহ দাদুদেরও। এরপরই আলিন এবং তাঁর মাকে ভর্তি করা হয় তিরুভাল্লার একটি হাসপাতালে। সেখান থেকে পরবর্তীতে কোচির হাসপাতালে নিয়ে যাওয়া তাঁদের।

জনা গিয়েছে, সেখানে চিকিৎসকদের দীর্ঘ প্রচেষ্টার বড় শেষ রক্ষা হয়নি শিশু কন্যাটির। গত শুক্রবার তাঁর ব্রেন ডেথ হয়েছে বলেই জানিয়ে দেন চিকিৎসকরা। নিজেদের শিশু কন্যাকে হারানোর যন্ত্রণা বুকে নিয়েই হঠাৎ বড় সিদ্ধান্ত নেন আলিনের মা বাবা। সন্তান তো আর ফিরে আসবে না তাই তাঁর অঙ্গদান করার কথা ভাবেন মা শেরিন আল জন এবং বাবা অরুণ আব্রাহাম। সর্বভারতীয় সংবাদ মাধ্যমের প্রতিবেদন অনুযায়ী, কেরালার ওই শিশু কন্যাটির মৃত্যুর পর হাসপাতালে তাঁর লিভার, কিডনি, হার্টের ভাল্ব সহ চোখের মণি দান করে দেন মা বাবা।

একাধিক রিপোর্ট অনুযায়ী, ছোট্ট আলিনের লিভারে নতুন জীবন পেয়েছে তিরুবন্তপুরমের এক হাসপাতালে চিকিৎসাধীন মাত্র 6 বছর বয়সী একটি শিশু। অন্যদিকে তিরুবন্তপুরম মেডিকেল কলেজে চিকিৎসাধীন আর এক শিশুকে দেওয়া হয়েছে তাঁর কিডনি। এভাবেই মোট 5 জন প্রাণে বেঁচেছে আলিনের দান করা অঙ্গে। আর এই ঘটনায় এবার ছোট্ট শিশু কন্যার বাবা মার প্রতি কৃতজ্ঞতা প্রকাশ করেছেন কেরালার স্বাস্থ্যমন্ত্রী বিনা জর্জ। তিনি জানিয়েছেন, “ওই শিশু কন্যার মা-বাবাকে আমি কী বলে ধন্যবাদ এবং কৃতজ্ঞতা জানাবো! ভাষা খুঁজে পাচ্ছি না।”
