শিলিগুড়ি-মিরিক রুটে ফিরল স্বস্তি, মাত্র ৫ দিনেই দুধিয়ায় বিকল্প ব্রিজ গড়ল ভারতীয় সেনা

প্রীতি পোদ্দার, কলকাতা: ভারতীয় সেনাবাহিনীর (Indian Army) দ্রুত পদক্ষেপে অবশেষে চালু হল শিলিগুড়ি (Siliguri) ও মিরিকের (Mirik) মধ্যে যোগাযোগ ব্যবস্থা। জেলা প্রশাসনের আবেদনে সাড়া দিয়ে তড়িঘড়ি দুধিয়ায় (Dudhia) বালাসন নদীর উপর ৩৪ মিটার দীর্ঘ একটি ফুটব্রিজ তৈরি করা হল সাধারণের জন্য। কিছুদিন আগেই অতিরিক্ত বৃষ্টির কারণে ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত হয়েছিল উত্তরবঙ্গের দার্জিলিং জেলার দুধিয়া সেতু। ফলে দার্জিলিঙের সঙ্গে যোগাযোগ ব্যবস্থায় বিঘ্ন ঘটেছিল। আর তাই এই ঘটনায় এগিয়ে এল ভারতীয় সেনার ‘ত্রিশক্তি’ কোর।

সেনার তৎপরতায় কাটল দুধিয়ার জট

গত বৃহস্পতিবার রাতে অতিভারী বৃষ্টির জেরে দুধিয়ায় বালাসন নদীর ওপর অবস্থিত অস্থায়ী দুধিয়া সেতুটি ভেঙে পড়ায় কার্যত যোগাযোগ বিচ্ছিন্ন হয়ে পড়েছিল শিলিগুড়ি এবং মিরিকের। ব্যাপক সমস্যার সম্মুখীন হতে হয় সকলকে। এরপরই সাধারণের কথা ভেবে রাজ্যের তরফে সেনাবাহিনীর কাছে বেইলি ব্রিজ তৈরির আবেদন করা হয়। তড়িঘড়ি গত শনিবার ও রবিবার সেনা আধিকারিকরা দুধিয়ায় বিভিন্নভাবে মাপঝোপ করেন। এরপরই সেনা আধিকারিকরা একসঙ্গে এলাকার পরিস্থিতি খতিয়ে দেখে মঙ্গলবার সকালে বেইলি ব্রিজ তৈরির কাজ শুরু হয়েছিল, আবহাওয়া ভালো থাকায় অবশেষে রাতারাতি সুসম্পন্ন হল কাজ।

বেইলি ব্রিজ নির্মাণে ব্যস্ত সেনাবাহিনী

জানা গিয়েছে, অস্থায়ী সেতু ভাঙার মাত্র ৫ দিনের মাথায় অক্লান্ত পরিশ্রমে কেন্দ্রীয় বাহিনী অবশেষে অস্থায়ী ফুটব্রিজ তৈরি করেছে। সেনা সূত্রে জানা গিয়েছে, আপাতত এই সেতু দিয়ে নিরাপদে পায়ে হেঁটে নদী পারাপার করা যাবে। এই সেতু পার হয়ে অন্য গাড়িতে চেপে মিরিক অথবা নেপাল সীমান্তের পশুপতি ফটকে যাতায়াত করতে পারবেন সকলে। অন্যদিকে যান চলাচলের জন্য একটি চওড়া বেইলি ব্রিজ তৈরির কাজও শুরু করেছে সেনাবাহিনী। এতে শুধু সাধারণ মানুষের যাতায়াতই নয়, পর্যটন শিল্পও ফের গতি পাবে, বলে আশা রাখছেন তাঁরা।

দার্জিলিংর সাংসদ রাজু বিস্তা বলেন, “সেনাবাহিনী খুব দ্রুত দুধিয়ায় ৩৪ মিটার দীর্ঘ অস্থায়ী বেইলি ব্রিজ তৈরি করেছে। সেতুটি স্থানীয় বাসিন্দাদের ভোগান্তি কমাবে।” স্থায়ী সমাধান না-হওয়া পর্যন্ত এই উদ্যোগ সকলকে বড় স্বস্তি দেবে বলেই মনে করা হচ্ছে।
