সৌভিক মুখার্জী, কলকাতা: মধ্যবিত্তদের পকেটে চাপ দিয়ে ফের দাম বাড়তে চলেছে সিগারেটের (Cigarette Price Hike)। ডিস্ট্রিবিউটর এবং বাজার সূত্রে খবর, আইটিসি এবং গডফ্রে ফিলিপসের মতো সংস্থাগুলি তাদের জনপ্রিয় ব্র্যান্ডগুলোর দাম মে মাস থেকে অনেকটাই বাড়ানোর পরিকল্পনা করছে। বিশেষ করে করের বোঝা সামাল দিতে এবং লাভের অংক বজায় রাখতেই এই সিদ্ধান্ত। ফলত ফ্লেক থেকে শুরু করে গোল্ড ফ্লেক, নেভিকার্ট প্রত্যেকটি সিগারেটের দামই এবার অনেকটাই বাড়তে পারে।

কোন কোন ব্র্যান্ডের দাম বাড়বে?

এনডিটিভি প্রফিটের একটি সূত্র অনুযায়ী খবর, প্রিমিয়াম এবং কিং সাইজের সিগারেটের উপর সবথেকে বেশি প্রভাব পড়তে পারে। প্রথমত, বর্তমানে গোল্ড ফ্লেক প্রিমিয়ামের যে সিগারেটের প্যাকেটের দাম ১১৫ টাকা, তা বেড়ে হতে পারে ১৩৫ টাকা। দ্বিতীয়ত, কিং সাইজ সেগমেন্ট যেমন ক্লাসিক, গোল্ড ফ্লেক কিংস এবং মার্লবোরোর মতো ব্র্যান্ড গুলির দামও এবার পাল্লা দিয়ে বাড়তে পারে। উল্লেখ্য, এর আগে শুল্ক বৃদ্ধির ফলে খুচরো বাজারে প্রতিটি সিগারেটের দাম ২০ টাকা থেকে বেড়ে ২৫-২৮ টাকা পর্যন্ত পৌঁছেছিল।

বলে দিই, চলতি বছরের ১ ফেব্রুয়ারি সিগারেটের উপর কেন্দ্রীয় সরকারের আফগারি শুল্ক প্রায় ৩০ থেকে ৪০ শতাংশ বৃদ্ধি পেয়েছিল। যার ফলে সিগারেট প্রস্তুতকারী সংস্থাগুলি ইতিমধ্যেই একবার দাম বাড়িয়েছে। কিন্তু এপ্রিল মাসে দেখা যাচ্ছে, দাম বাড়ার ফলে প্রিমিয়াম সিগারেটের বিক্রিতে প্রায় ২০% ঘাটতি দেখা গিয়েছে। এমতাবস্থায় করের ক্ষতিপূরণ করতে এবং উৎপাদন খরচ সামাল দিতেই দ্বিতীয় দফায় দাম বাড়ানোর পথে হাঁটছে কোম্পানিগুলি।

শেয়ারবাজারে চাঙ্গাভাব

তবে সিগারেটের দাম বাড়তে পারে এই খবর ছড়িয়ে পড়তেই বুধবার শেয়ারবাজারে আইটিসি এবং গডফ্রে ফিলিপসের শেয়ারের দর হু হু করে বেড়েছে। আইটিসি এর শেয়ারের দাম ৪% এবং গডফ্রে ফিলিপসের শেয়ার প্রাইস ৬.৫% পর্যন্ত বেড়েছে। অন্যদিকে নিফটি এফএমসিজি সূচকেও ইতিবাচক প্রভাব লক্ষ্য করা গিয়েছে।

বেশ কিছু বিশেষজ্ঞদের মতে, কিং সাইজের সিগারেটগুলির থেকে এই সংস্থাগুলির আয়ের ৩০ শতাংশের বেশি আসে। আর দাম বাড়লে উচ্চবিত্ত গ্রাহকদের উপরে খুব একটা প্রভাব না পড়লেও সাধারণ মধ্যবিত্ত বা নিম্নবিত্ত ধূমপানকারীদের মধ্যে যে সস্তার বিকল্প খোঁজার প্রবণতা বাড়বে তা বলার অপেক্ষা রাখে না। এমনকি মহারাষ্ট্রসহ দেশের বেশ কিছু বড় বড় বাজারে ইতিমধ্যে এপ্রিল মাসে বিক্রিতে পতন দেখা গিয়েছে। আর মে মাসে দাম বাড়লে গ্রাহক সংখ্যা আরও কমে নাকি বাজারে ইতিবাচক প্রভাব পড়ে সেটাই এখন দেখার।
